GREENFIELD — A downtown building previously deemed unsafe has been saved from falling into further disrepair, though its future is still uncertain.

At the urging of city officials, the building at 20 W. Main St., which once housed Brandywine Steakhouse, is getting a new roof to secure it from the ravages of winter. Inspectors deemed the building, which had been badly in need of a new roof for several years, unsafe and in danger of reaching a state beyond repair.
