GREENFIELD — Kevin Horrigan won’t enter the World Series of Poker anytime soon, but, with his luck, he might want to consider a sideline career as a gambler.
The Greenfield-Central athletic director couldn’t believe his good fortune when Mark and Emily Logan applied for the Cougars’ head coaching positions with the boys’ and girls’ swim programs.
Last month, Tom Moore resigned from those jobs at G-C to accept the same responsibilities at Pike. Along with delivering Greenfield’s first boys’ swim sectional titles in over 25 years, Moore was also a Physical Education teacher at the high school, and he was head coach of the Greenfield Community Aquatic Team, the youth club program.
Horrigan said it was a “coup” to fill all of those positions with coaches the stature of the Logans, who, with Emily as head coach and Mark as an assistant, guided the Mt. Vernon girls’ swim team to three sectional titles and two Hoosier Heritage Conference championships in the last four seasons.
