GREENFIELD — Slipping on a Santa suit and white beard for the first time a decade ago, it didn’t take long for Tom Graham to become hooked.

The lifelong Greenfield resident and grandfather of 15 came home from his first stint and told his wife all about the magical feeling of transforming into the most beloved holiday figure in the world.

“When you put on that suit, you’re no longer Tom Graham. You’re the man. You’re Santa Claus,” he said, a twinkle in his eye just like Jolly Old Saint Nick. “Kids that wouldn’t give you the time of day run up to you and hug you and love you. You just can’t get that anywhere.”

A member of the Greenfield Kiwanis Club, the group that offers visits with Santa Claus on the courthouse square every year, Graham knew he wanted this to be his annual volunteer gig.
