Greenfield man killed in crash


Police say the driver of this pickup lost control and smashed into a tree in the 1600 block of Bowman Drive. Cody S. Bragg, 22, died in the accident. The incident happened around 2 a.m. Sunday.

GREENFIELD — A Greenfield man was killed in a single-car crash in the 1600 block of Bowman Drive early Sunday, police said.

The accident occured shortly after 2 a.m., according to a press release issued by the Greenfield Police Department. Cody S. Bragg, 22, was killed after his pickup truck smashed into a tree. He was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

Bragg was reportedly driving southbound on Bowman Drive in the Bowman Acres subdivision when he lost control of his vehicle and struck a tree, head on. Bragg was traveling at a high rate of speed and was unable to navigate a curve in the roadway, police said.

Police said they are unsure why Bragg was in the subdivision or why he might have been speeding at the time of the accident. The case remains under investigation.
