GREENFIELD — A call to defeat the “radical right” became the theme of the annual Jefferson-Jackson Day Dinner sponsored by the Hancock County Democratic Party Tuesday.

The stakes are high in this presidential election year, candidates said. That’s even so in a county that overwhelmingly votes Republican.

“There’s blue Republicans out there, and we’re going to get them,” keynote speaker John Gregg, Democratic candidate for governor, exhorted a crowd of about 100 gathered at American Legion Hall.
