FORTVILLE — Tuesday night’s Hoosier Heritage Conference Championship Meet marked the last time the Greenfield-Central, Mt. Vernon and New Palestine girls’ track and field teams will face one another this season, unless each school features state-meet qualifiers.

Pendleton Heights went home with the HHC crown after scoring 140.5 points. Hancock County meet winner Mt. Vernon was runner-up (131.5), 2011 HHC champ New Palestine placed third (128) and Greenfield-Central finished fourth (78).

Yorktown, Rushville, Delta and Shelbyville rounded out the field.

Kiawna Cottrell, victorious in the 100 and 200-meter dashes as well as the long jump, led a balanced Arabian attack as Pendleton placed in the top three in 12 of the 16 competitions.

Each of the three Hancock County teams in attendance depicted a different outlook following the meet.
