WHAT: IHSAA Girls’ Golf Sectional, hosted by Mt. Vernon.

WHEN: Saturday.

WHERE: Old Oakland Country Club, 11611 E 75th St, Indianapolis.

WHO: Girls’ golf teams from Beech Grove, Eastern Hancock, Franklin Central, Greenfield-Central, Mt. Vernon, New Palestine and Shelbyville.

START TIME: 12:30 p.m. Holes 1-9 on South course; Holes 10-18 on East Course. Teams will tee off on No. 1 and No. 10.

FORMAT: Five golfers per team; top four individual scores count toward team score.

ADVANCEMENT: Top three teams and advance to New Castle Regional, Saturday, Sept. 22. Top three individuals from non-advancing teams also qualify for regional. Ties for third place will result in a playoff.

LAST YEAR: G-C, led by individual champ Kelsey Fisk, won the sectional, followed by Beech Grove and Shelbyville. MV’s Ellen Werner and Ellen Wuerch and EH’s Hannah Boaz qualified individually for regional.

OUTLOOK: Beech Grove and Shelbyville, No. 2 and No. 3 3 in the tourney last year, have been rebuilding this season and will be hard pressed to advance. The top three teams spots should come down to a battle between Mt. Vernon, Greenfield-Central, New Palestine and Franklin Central.
