March 21 — Tri at Eastern Hancock

The Royals will be able to showcase their versatile talents in front of the Charlottesville faithful for the first time.

April 4 — New Palestine, Shelbyville at Greenfield-Central

The high jump tilt between a pair of sophomores (Greenfield-Central’s Regan Lewis and New Palestine’s Rachel Wineman) headlines the Cougars’ first outdoor foray. Lewis, coming off a fifth-place finish at state, has a leg up. Wineman placed third at sectional.

April 9 — New Palestine at Mt. Vernon

MV is the favorite here, but keep an eye on the distance races. If Marauder senior Elizabeth Cook and Dragon freshman Sarah Schwartz are matchup together, that race will go down to the wire.

April 18 — Greenfield-Central, Mt. Vernon at Pendleton Heights Invite

Pendleton Heights’ Kiawna Cottrell and Mt. Vernon’s Aliyah Myers go toe-to-toe in the sprints on the same track that will host the sectional competition. Cottrell is the reigning sectional champ in the 100 and 200.

May 1 — Hancock County Meet at G-C

Mt. Vernon ended New Palestine’s six-year run last year and should be considered the favorite again in this go-around. The host Cougars are the likeliest challengers.

May 7 — Mid-Hoosier Conference Meet at Waldron

Eastern Hancock coach Jerry Cain listed a Mid-Hoosier Conference championship as one of his team’s foremost goals.
