SHARPSVILLE — Minus a few first-game snafus, Eastern Hancock was convincing in a 47-35 win at Tri-Central Friday.
Spencer Gilbert ran for 221 yards while Cooper Henderson rushed for 109 yards and the tailbacks combined for four touchdowns. Junior quarterback Austin Lacy was commanding in his debut on 7-of-10 passing for 114 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions as the Royals carried over their momentum from 2012.
“I’m extremely happy,” said EH coach Pat Echeverria, who noted the Week 1 win was a carry over from last year’s sectional championship loss to Scecina. “After that game we put a mindset out there that we are going to be relentless physically.
“And that no-huddle offense and kind of doing some unorthodox things really paid off for us tonight. We made some huge plays.”
The Royals have now won five of their last seven games going back to last fall’s 4-2 finish, and a lethal mix of Gilbert and the EH passing game has been a constant.
