Marian University football has been built from the ground up into a national power, and a Greenfield player has helped do some of the heavy lifting.
Reece Green, a 2008 Greenfield-Central graduate, is a three-year starting linebacker for the Knights, who will enter the NAIA national tournament later this month as the No. 1-ranked team in the country after beating then-No. 1 St. Xavier of Chicago 27-9 Saturday in the foes’ conference championship game.
Marian, located northwest of downtown Indianapolis, completed its first-ever unbeaten regular season with a 10-0 record and a 5-0 mark in the Mid-State Football Association, while Saint Xavier had its 31-game regular season winning streak snapped and fell to 9-1.
