Greenfield-Central graduate and Minnesota Twins prospect Kyle Gibson was recently named the Arizona Fall League’s Pitcher of the Week.
Gibson, slated to make his third start for the Peoria Javelinas Tuesday, was 2-0 in his first two starts, yielding one earned run in 10 innings while striking out 16.
The six-foot-six, 210-pound righthander underwent Tommy John surgery in September of 2011.
Gibson, the Twins first-round pick (22nd overall) in 2009, reached Triple-A Rochester toward the end of the 2012 regular season.
“I’m feeling great,” Gibson told MLB.com recently. “I learned a lot about myself in the [surgery rehab] process. It wasn’t like I was alone. There are guys all over baseball who have had this done, even guys in the Twins’ Minor League system.”
