Chesterton wins team championship




Greenfield-Central senior Nathan Graber finished 14th in the diving State Finals Saturday at IUPUI.

Graber, who won the New Palestine Sectional on Feb. 22 with a score of 424.2, carded a 397.25 Saturday. Graber was just behind Mitch Mastey of Highland (400.80) and ahead Taylor Berkey of Northridge (390.15).

Hamilton Southeastern’s Cody Coldren won the event with a score of 536.2.

In the team swimming competition, Chesterton claimed its fourth state championship in the past seven years. The Trojans tallied 240 points, ahead of second-place Avon (198) and third-place Penn (187).

Six state records were set over the two-day State Finals. Chesterton’s Blake Pieroni, who won two individual events and two relays, was named the Herman F. Keller Mental Attitude Award Winner.
