Murphy went 36-19-1 in 2 seasons

Brian Murphy has resigned as Greenfield-Central’s baseball coach.

Murphy, formerly a coach at Cardinal Ritter, Speedway and Warren Central, went 36-19-1 in two seasons coaching the Cougars.

G-C won Hoosier Heritage Conference and sectional championships in Murphy’s first season. Murphy was named HHC Coach of the Year in 2013.

“(I) just need to spend more time on teaching and working my way into school administration,” Murphy said.

Murphy teaches English at Warren Central. He completed his master’s degree in administration at IUPUI last August.

G-C athletic director Jared Manning said the application deadline to be Murphy’s replacement is Aug. 4.
