HANCOCK COUNTY — A Sugar Creek Township family was driven from their home by a pre-dawn house fire on Christmas Day.

Firefighters were dispatched shortly after 5 a.m. Wednesday after a fire broke out in the basement of a home at 3050 W. U.S. 40.

Seven individuals were inside the home, which county records show is owned by Stephen Bucci, when the fire broke out, including Chris Deming, who spoke from the front yard of the residence Wednesday afternoon.
