GREENFIELD — The Greenfield-Central class of 2014 celebrated a milestone at the high school commencement ceremony Saturday morning. Three hundred twenty-one students gathered in the school gymnasium to mark the final chapter of their high school careers. The class valedictorian was Lauren Bryant; the salutatorian was Logan Dudley.

Also recognized Saturday was Hancock County resident Walter Worland, an honorary diploma recipient who left high school in 1942 to serve in the military. The 91-year-old World War II veteran, who is well-known as an active community supporter, returned to Greenfield-Central Saturday to receive his diploma after more than 70 years.

Several students were spotlighted during Saturday’s event. Shelby Myers sang the national anthem, and Brian McCord sang “Letting Go” for his senior vocal performance. The senior speaker was Rachel Larsen.

The top 10 seniors (in order from one to 10) were: Bryant; Dudley; Kylie Smith; Grant Gellert; Sarah Holland; Clara Starkey; Christina Riley; Tyler Girton; Loren Baran; and Rachel Larsen.
