If optimism and determination were colors, they might look something like pink. Those qualities are the embodiment of the breast cancer awareness movement. So is the color pink, and that’s why today’s edition of the Daily Reporter is printed on pink paper. Inside the paper is a 16-page special section, “Pink Power,” that celebrates survivors of breast cancer and offers an insightful look at the disease that hits one in eight women. And as you’ll learn as you read the stories, the disease doesn’t really discriminate: Even young women and those with no family history of breast cancer can be at risk. At the heart of these stories, however, is something much more profound: They describe courage and an inspiring resiliency in the face of a harrowing illness.
