Wallen keys second-quarter run for Royals

CHARLOTTESVILLE — Eastern Hancock’s boys basketball team had to put behind a missed opportunity to grab part of a conference title.

The Royals had to do so immediately, because they were right back on their court Tuesday night to meet Centerville.

EH started out slowly, like it did the night before against Indian Creek.  But this time, the Royals snapped out of their funk with their most trusty weapon — the 3-point shot.

Four different Royals hit treys in the second quarter, and that was the spark they needed to defeat the Bulldogs 41-37.

EH (14-5) outscored Centerville (6-12) 20-4 in that second period, after the Bulldogs started out with a 13-4 lead and 13 straight points.

The Royals were back at it after falling to IC Monday, as a win over the Braves would have won EH at least a share of the Mid-Hoosier Conference title.
