CHARLOTTESVILLE — Bryan Feilen knows first-hand what it means to persevere.

The Eastern Hancock teacher and defensive coordinator for the school’s football team specializes in helping struggling students graduate and get the skills they need to succeed after high school.

Feilen is a specialist for the Jobs for America’s Graduates program, the only one of its kind in Hancock County. The program at Eastern Hancock received a national award for graduation rates and job placement. And while Feilen is quick to congratulate the students and school for the success, others point to him as an inspiration.
