INDIANAPOLIS — In a display as impressive as it was expected, New Palestine’s Chad Red won his second straight wrestling state championship Saturday at Bankers Life Fieldhouse.
Red defeated Fairfield’s Forrest Glogouski, 6-2, in the 120-pound title bout after pinning his first three opponents at the 76th Annual IHSAA State Finals. The final victory was Red’s closest of the year; he pinned 38 of 44 opponents this season.
The No. 1-ranked sophomore improved to 92-0 in his career. Red went 48-0 to claim the 106-pound crown a year ago.
New Palestine nearly left Indy with two state titles. Brian Wagner (right) made it to the 195-pound championship before falling to Warren Central’s Katrell Moss by 3-2 decision.
The Dragons’ Alec White grabbed fourth place at 106 and heavyweight Tyler Beeson of Greenfield-Central finished sixth.
