Reggie Smith and Matt Dickerson are all tied up at 1-1. The finale of the best-of-three series will take place Saturday, June 2, on the biggest of stages.
Smith, a Warren Central senior, edged Greenfield-Central’s Dickerson in the 110 meter hurdle championship race at the Connersville Regional Thursday.
Smith finished in 14.76 seconds; his Cougars’ counterpart was second in 14.89. But the race wasn’t as close as their duel last week, when Dickerson crossed the sectional line at Warren Central in 15.03 — barely ahead of Smith (15.06) — to win a sectional title.
The top three finishers in each regional event advanced to the state finals, so Smith and Dickerson will lace ’em up one more time, at the Indiana University track and field stadium in Bloomington June 2.
