GREENFIELD — Interim Hancock County Coroner Dan Devoy has wasted no time making changes to the office he was appointed to oversee this week until the end of the year.

Devoy’s first move as coroner after being appointed Monday was to reverse a decision made last year by his predecessor, Tamara Vangundy, who was booted from office in late August after accepting a plea agreement in a drunken-driving case. Vangundy’s term would have ended in December.

Last fall, Vangundy announced autopsies would be conducted locally in an effort to save the county both time and money. They are now headed back to the Marion County coroner’s office, which handled them for years before Vangundy became coroner in 2009.
