GREENFIELD — A deputy chief for the Greenfield Fire Territory is stepping down a level in the chain of command, taking a cut in pay and benefits.
Brian Burkhardt, deputy chief over emergency medical services for the fire department, submitted a letter of resignation May 23, asking to be dropped to the rank of captain. The change results in a $6,000 cut in pay and loss of his take-home vehicle.
