GREENFIELD — County officials are considering a crackdown on tattoo parlors and body piercing facilities, making sure each site follows safety precautions to prevent the spread of disease.
The Hancock County Board of Health proposes each business or individual that performs body piercing or tattoos be inspected at least twice a year.
Businesses must acquire an annual $100 permit under a proposed ordinance. People who want to perform a body piercing or tattoo individually would have to get a $50 permit.
“It’s to protect the health of the community,” Dr. Sandra Aspy said.
