CHARLOTTESVILLE — At the start of the season, Eastern Hancock and Greenfield-Central were mirror images of one another.
Both were coming off 20-win seasons that featured at least one major trophy won.
Both were replacing two key players.
Both were breaking in new coaches.
The squads met Thursday night in Charlottesville, continuing starts to 2013 that could not be more different.
Entering the match, the Cougars had triumphed in their first five contests, four of which came Saturday at the Lafayette Jefferson Classic. The Royals were 0-7, trying to mesh its veterans from last season’s sectional and regional champion unit with the team’s newcomers.
And after the G-C’s 25-20, 25-19, 25-20 sweep, the teams remain on divergent paths.
