NEW PALESTINE — Greenfield-Central swept New Palestine to win the Hancock County Volleyball Tournament championship Saturday on the Dragons’ home court.
On Sept. 19 at New Palestine, the host Dragons beat Greenfield-Central 3-0. The Cougars simply didn’t match the Dragons’ will to win that day, Cougars coach Kim Wildman said at the time.
What a difference three weeks makes.
“I felt like we were much more focused playing New Pal this time around,” Wildman noted Saturday after G-C’s 25-20, 25-17 title match (best-of-3-sets format) victory — the second straight county crown for the Cougars. “Our mental toughness is improving and we played with heart. We wanted that win very bad, especially after losing to New Pal so badly in the regular season.
“We wanted to play New Pal again and show how much we have improved and grown over the season.”
