The Greenfield-Central 400 freestyle relay team placed 13th at IHSAA Boys Swimming and Diving State Finals Saturday at the Indiana University Natatorium at IUPUI in Indianapolis.
Patrick Stutz, Cody Wilburn, Drew Logan and Bailey Willoughby clocked in at 3:13.46, lowering the school record they set during Friday’s prelims at 3:13.68.
Chesterton won the race with a time of 3:04.77 after setting the state record Friday (3:01.05).
The Trojans took home the team title with 238.5 points, outdistancing runner-up North Central (203.5) and three-time defending champ Carmel (173).
Chesterton won four individual events, two relays and left with a slew of records in winning the state title. Aaron Whitaker of Chesterton bettered individual records in the 100 butterfly (47.33) and 100 backstroke (47.29) Saturday after eclipsing those marks on Friday. The junior also anchored the 400 freestyle relay.
The State Finals capped record-setting careers for the mostly-senior Cougars. Stutz, Wilburn and Willoughby are seniors, while Logan is a junior.
