Complaint about signs dropped

GREENFIELD — A complaint registered against Southern Hancock School Board candidate Larry Lee for posting illegal election signs was dropped shortly before it was set for a public hearing Thursday morning, Hancock County election office officials said.

Lee was scheduled to meet with the election board to discuss the allegation of posting yard signs without a disclaimer.

The complaint was originally filed by Daniel Snyder, the husband of Lee’s opponent, incumbent Barbara Snyder, who called Lee out for violating Indiana Code 3-9-3-1.

Lee acknowledged the mistake to the election commission, formally apologized and then replaced all illegal signs.

Eastern Hancock school board candidate Neil Floyd and Greenfield-Central school board candidate Kathy Dowling, who were identified in a random sampling of yard signs as not being in compliance with the same election regulation, have contacted the Daily Reporter to acknowledge all their signs are now properly labeled with disclaimers.
