GREENFIELD — Hancock County’s burn ban was lifted Tuesday, but at least one township fire chief is issuing an executive order to keep one in place.

Hancock County Commissioners Tuesday unanimously agreed to lift the countywide restriction.

But Sugar Creek Township Chief Gerald Morganthall said under the state fire code, a fire chief is authorized to set a burn ban regardless of whether a county or town council has put one in place.
