Thinking big: Diana and Dean Parker, owners of the Chicago's Pizza in Greenfield, talk about their restaurant's expansion. The pizzaria on North State Street will be closed for three months as it expands from 2,400 to 4,000 square feet. (Tom Russo/Daily Reporter)

GREENFIELD — Chicago’s Pizza is anticipating a much-needed expansion at its Greenfield location, but not before reducing two long-standing local businesses to rubble.

The current Chicago’s and Northgate Beauty Salon, located directly behind it, will be demolished within the next two weeks to make way for a new 4,000-square-foot Chicago’s.

The salon will be closed for several weeks, starting Friday, while making a move into McKenzie Plaza, on the west side of State Street. Chicago’s will close its Greenfield location Wednesday for three months during construction.
