He's been there: Southern Hancock safety director Steve Satterly has an unusual perspective on bullying. He was tormented himself when he was in school. He has used his experiences to help craft anti-bullying strategies for Southern Hancock schools.
NEW PALESTINE –– Steve Satterly is in an unusual position as the safety officer for Southern Hancock schools.
As overseer of students’ well-being, Satterly has researched and led numerous classroom discussions on how to prevent bullying.
But he also has firsthand knowledge of the issue: Satterly was a victim of bullying for more than six years.
“He pounded me every chance he got,” Satterly said of the classmate who bullied him relentlessly as a youth.
