NEW PALESTINE — A distant third to champion New Palestine and runner-up Mt. Vernon at the 2013 Hancock County Track and Field Meet, Greenfield-Central needed its entire team to raise its game in order to contend for the 2014 crown Wednesday evening at New Palestine. Having someone pull a Matt Dickerson – i.e., come up and set the tone individually – wouldn’t hurt either.

The Cougars got both items on their checklist, and in turn, claimed their second county championship in three seasons.

G-C (82 points) won comfortably Wednesday, outlasting NP (65.5), MV (57.5) and Eastern Hancock (39).

Scott Burton’s crew also received exceptional performances from sophomore Austyn Tift and senior Tyler Beeson, with the two playing a role in five of the blue and gold’s six event victories and jointly garnering Athlete of the Meet honors.
