Eastern Hancock moved to 10-3 on the season with a 62-44 decision over still-winless Tri Friday evening.
The visiting Royals, who had their 8-game winning streak snapped by Greenfield-Central in their last game on Feb. 1, were paced by Derrick Noel’s 22 points.
“The first half, we kind of let them stick around, but we did a nice job in the second half and got after it defensively,” EH coach Aaron Spaulding said.
Isaiah McCormick added 15 points for the Royals. Garrett Hancock had 11 points. Cooper Henderson added seven assists and eight rebounds. Cole Fout had seven rebounds.
Tri dropped to 0-13.
EH (4-1 Mid-Hoosier Conference) is off until Thursday, when it travels to MHC foe Hauser (6-8, 3-3 MHC).
Delta 64, Greenfield-Central 59
In a battle of two teams searching for their first Hoosier Heritage Conference victory of the season, host Delta knocked off Greenfield-Central Friday night.
The Cougars, who trailed 19-17 at half, dropped to 2-14 (0-5 HHC). The Eagles improved to 8-7 (1-4 HHC).
Tate Hall led G-C with 17 points. Chandler Bean (13 points) and Griffin Lowe (12 points) also contributed.
“In the fourth quarter, we turned up the pressure, got some turnovers and tied it at 50,” Cougars’ coach Josh Johnson said. “We got a little too aggressive and got some fouls, and they knocked down their free throws.”
Johnson cited the defensive play of Dallas Pribble, Zach Batton and Blake Robertson, who registered four deflections shortly after his entry to the game.
G-C is at Greenwood (4-10) tonight.
