INDIANAPOLIS — Not since the Warren Central football team beat North Central 29-0 on October 21 in the Warriors’ final home game has that football stadium produced a louder yell.
And it was a Greenfield-Central football player who drew the collective cheer Thursday, although it took place in the shot put area during the track and field sectional.
G-C sophomore Tyler Beeson, after entering the day with a career personal best of 51 feet, five inches, shocked Warren Central’s LaShawn Lee with a heave of 55-8.25 in his final throw to snatch the sectional championship.
Beeson’s toss elicited a boisterous response from a large throng of fans who had gathered to witness what had become a Beeson-Lee duel.
