GREENFIELD — With temperatures expected to break into the triple digits today, Stacey Valentine has one prediction: “There will be water fights.”

Valentine, a mother and a 4-H leader, was taking a lunch break with Cheryl Overman Wednesday afternoon at the Hancock County 4-H Fair.

While a comfortable breeze helped 4-H’ers as temperatures reached the low 90s Wednesday, today’s high could reach 102 degrees, according to the National Weather Service. Fairgoers braced for the heat, which could be a record high for the Hancock County Fair despite this year’s early start date.
