HANCOCK COUNTY — There are probably as many reasons people might want to preserve a building as there are buildings and people, but Joan Kellogg’s reason for restoring her century-old urban barn on Greenfield’s west side was simple.
She liked it.
“I just liked it and liked to look at it,” Kellogg said. “It has surprising good lines and good design.”
And since the structure behind her home on West Fifth Street was “on its last legs,” Kellogg asked John Cline of Cline Construction to bring it some new life.
For their efforts, Kellogg and Cline will join five other preservationists Sunday in receiving Greenfield Historic Landmarks’ annual preservation award.
