Being a student-athlete all these years has taught me much more than just how to play the sport and be good at it. It has taught me to be successful at everything I do no matter what it is.
Being on a sports team can honestly teach you life lessons more so outside of the sport that you can take with you out into life in the real world. Being on a team forces you to make good decisions and be successful or make bad decisions, which will force you to face the consequences. Either way you are going to learn something out of it. Making the better decisions of the two is just easier in the long run.
Throughout life you will be challenged with many opportunities to do things that you honestly should not do, but it is up to nobody but yourself when it comes to that. Many student- athletes lose their opportunity to play because of one bad decision and it is usually not worth it.
However, leading by example can help you be successful and help others see what can come from making good decisions. Playing on a team of any sort whether it being baseball, soccer, softball, football, basketball, etc., they all have the same philosophy. Practice, condition, and play hard 24/7. Always give 100 percent and it will all pay off in the end.
