GREENFIELD — A longtime community advocate known for his outgoing personality died Sunday.
Jim Hall, 69, is remembered for his leadership in the Hancock County Democratic Party and service in local clubs and organizations.
“He was an outgoing person, very interested in community involvement. A good man,” said Dan O’Connor, who knew Hall for 40 years through the local Democratic Party.
O’Connor was among many who said Hall put the community above himself. Hall had most recently assisted former Mayor Rodney Fleming in making decisions for the city as a member of the Greenfield Board of Works.
“He had a good background of knowing how all government works; he’d been very active,” said Fleming, who appointed Hall to the board in 2000 and worked with him until 2007. “He had a very good understanding of problems that would arise and what needs to be done to rectify them. And he was a good people person; he could talk to anybody and everybody.”
