NEW PALESTINE — A snow day right before winter break might have postponed the annual Doe Creek Middle Spirit Day, but that didn’t diminish the excitement once it finally took place Friday.

More than 550 kids packed the school’s gym to compete in various contests. The students were divided into six teams, each with its own name and colors. The event, in its 16th year, is designed to let the kids celebrate the end of the first semester of classes.
