Not only did it keep its season alive with a 21-14 sectional quarterfinal victory at Muncie Central last Friday, Greenfield-Central received a much-needed boost in confidence.
Entering their matchup against the Bearcats, the Cougars had dropped three in a row to Mt. Vernon, New Palestine and Pendleton Heights by an average score of 48.7-6.7 and committed 16 turnovers in those three games.
Versus Muncie Central, G-C (4-6) turned the ball over just once and racked up 345 yards of total offense, its 21 points the most since scoring 33 against Rushville on Sept. 22.
“Give the kids and coaches credit, it’s never easy after a loss, regardless of the score,” G-C coach Roger Dodson said. “The kids and coaches have continued to work hard and do the things we have to do to win.
“It certainly makes it easier and makes us feel a bit better about ourselves.”
Now, Greenfield-Central heads back to Muncie Friday to play Delta (7-3), who bested the visitors 48-8 on Aug. 31.
