Outlook: Two standout freshmen give the Dragons hope of maintaining, or improving on, a 17-16 2013. Ally Dennemann (5-foot-9 outside hitter) and Mia Long (5-11 middle back) will be immediate contributors. “I expect big things from Mia and Ally as freshmen and predict them to be among the stat leaders on our team,” NP coach Kelli Whitaker said. … Junior Katlyn Keele is a veteran starter at outside hitter. Sophomore Kara Morris will handle the setter spot in place of the graduated Ellen Poetz. Senior Brianna Kilgore is libero, following up Indiana All-Star and 2014 grad Jamie Morris. Senior Maddie Harper offers additional experience at middle hitter. … “The potential is enormous for this year’s team,” Whitaker said. “We have versatile players who are hungry to win and get better every single day in the gym. We had the best offseason in years. We have excellent leadership from our returning players and great team chemistry.” … Junior outside hitter Megan Hawley transferred to Warren Central. … 2014 Hancock County Softball Player of the Year Adie Lorsung, a senior, is giving volleyball a try after two years away from the sport.

First serve: The Dragons host Connersville Monday.
