MV's Houck is Player of the Year

The Daily Reporter 2012 All-Hancock County Softball Team was voted on by the four county coaches — Jack Heiden of Eastern Hancock, Jason Stewart of Greenfield-Central, Mike McGill of Mt. Vernon and Ed Marcum of New Palestine — Daily Reporter sports editor Brian Harmon and sportswriter Grant Freking. Each voted listed their top players 1-12. The No. 1 selection on each ballot received 12 votes; the No. 2 pick, 11 votes; and so on. The player receiving the most votes was named Player of the Year. The top 12 vote-getters were named to the All-Hancock County Team. Players outside the top 12 were Honorable Mention.

People's Choice

In the online Player of the Year poll, G-C's Sami Frazier is the "People's Choice" winner. Frazier garnered 62 percent of the vote, over 2,500 votes total, while MV's Rachel Houck was second with 33 percent and over 1,300 votes.
