GREENFIELD — A student vaping near a smoke detector at Greenfield-Central High School set off the alarm and caused the school to be evacuated Monday around lunch time, officials said. Firefighters from Greenfield Fire Territory were on the scene for about 30 minutes and sent a ladder truck, engine and medic unit to check out the cause of the fire alarm at 810 N. Broadway Street.

“It was figured out pretty quick,” public information officer Corey Breese said. Although the alarm caused a disruption in the middle of a rainy day at school, no other complications were reported.
