Food Pantry Donations During the season of giving, remember for the Hancock County Food Pantry. Non-perishable food donations may be deposited in marked baskets at the Hancock County Public Library's Greenfield and New Palestine locations. The pantry is running low on cereal and hygiene items, such as toothpaste and toothbrushes, deodorant, soap, toilet paper, and shampoo. Food stamps do not cover hygiene and paper products, so they are in great need. The facility at 741 1/2 S. State Rd. 9, in Greenfield, distributes food on Mondays, from 1:00 to 2:30 p.m. and 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.; Tuesdays, from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. and from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m.; and Wednesdays and Thursdays, from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. Donations may also be made during these hours. The food pantry accepts tax-deductible cash contributions as well as food donations. Financial help ensures that the food pantry can stock items that are needed most. Mail checks to the Hancock County Food Pantry, P.O. Box 244, Greenfield, IN, 46140. Call the pantry at 468-0273 about donating or volunteering.
