Dog pool party Saturday

GREENFIELD — Join your pet at the pool in the annual Partners for Animal Welfare Society pool party this Saturday, Aug. 14. Families and dogs are welcome to swim in the Riley Pool just before it closes for the season from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Cost is $12 per adult plus one dog; additional people or dogs are $2 each, with a maximum fee of $20. Proceeds benefit P.A.W.S. For more information, visit facebook.com/PAWSHancock.

Kids classes at state museum

INDIANAPOLIS — Young kids might enjoy storytelling, hands-on activities, art and creativity in classes at the Indiana State Museum. Small Wonders is a recurring class for ages 3-5 and this Saturday, Aug. 14 preschoolers will explore abstract art. The class starts at 10 a.m. Cost is $12 and an accompanying parent gets in free.

Children ages 4-6 can try a drop-off class that encourages independence in the Young Explorers program. This Saturday, Aug. 14 Young Explorers will be learning about busy bees. Cost is $13 and the class starts at 1 p.m. For more information, visit www.indianamuseum.org.

Drum event in downtown Indy

INDIANAPOLIS — Head to Monument Circle in downtown Indianapolis Friday, Aug. 13 for the “World’s Largest Drum-along.” The all-ages event by Drum Corps International, Music for All and Downtown Indy celebrates music education and teachers. Local, national and international ensembles will be onsite, as well as food trucks and interactive fun. The free event is 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.
