Community briefs: Relay for Life returning to junior high track

GREENFIELD — The Relay for Life fundraising event will return from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 28 at the Greenfield-Central Junior High Track. Individuals or organizations wanting to participate, raise funds for the American Cancer Society, or purchase luminaries in memory or honor of someone who has fought cancer can get forms by emailing Mike Reder, [email protected].

Breastfeeding event scheduled

GREENFIELD — Women are welcome to celebrate their breastfeeding journey in the fifth annual Big Latch-On event at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 7.

The event, held at Beckenholdt Park, 2770 N. Franklin St., is sponsored by the Hancock County Breastfeeding Coalition. It will include prizes, refreshments and a photo booth. Women will latch together at 10:30 a.m. in honor of World Breastfeeding Week.

Community clean-up scheduled for McCordsville

McCORDSVILLE — A clean-up day for the town of McCordsville is scheduled for 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Aug. 7 at McCordsville United Methodist Church, 6247 W. Broadway St., McCordsville.

The event is sponsored by the town and Hancock Solid Waste Management District. Dumpsters will be available for paper shredding and waste. Examples of items accepted are yard waste, construction and demolition waste, small furniture; and for a fee electronics like printers, monitors and TVs. Items not accepted include tires, paints, pesticides, fluorescent lamps, batteries, flammable materials and refrigerators or freezers.
