HANCOCK COUNTY — There’s no better place to stop and put your feet up during the Hancock County 4-H Fair than the entertainment stage at the Pioneer Building — the best kept secret at the fair. The entertainment stage features a variety of local performers and, best of all, it’s free. All performances begin at 7 p.m.

Elkridge Bluegrass Band

The Elkridge bluegrass band, under the leadership of Tim Coffey, formed in 2016. They call Greenfield home and have had a touring schedule that has included the Old Milford Opry in Ohio, the 50th anniversary of Bill Monroe’s Bluegrass Festival in Bean Blossom, the Hedgehog Music Showcase in Arcadia, the 2 Rivers Festival in Lynchburg, and the Hills of Home Bluegrass Festival in Virginia. Elkridge will be in the Pioneer Building on June 19.

Nebo Ridge Band

Nebo Ridge, an often-requested group, will entertain audiences on June 20. From Greenfield, band members Jeff Kinder, Bobby Wiggins, Sherrie Davis, Rick Taylor and Tony Seiler perform a blend of country and classic rock. The group is a frequent performer at Snappers Bar and Grill on North State St.

Silver Creek

Fan favorite Silver Creek returns to the Pioneer Building stage on June 21 for an evening of bluegrass. Hailing from Hancock and surrounding counties, the five-piece band’s most recent release was a self-titled album from November of 2019.

Haley Jonay

Fresh from performing at the 150th birthday party of artist Will Vawter, Hancock County’s own singer/songwriter Haley Jonay will perform on June 22. Jonay wrote her first song when she was seven, learning to play the piano around the same time. At the age of nine, she saw Miley Cyrus in concert as Hannah Montana and decided music was her destiny. She picked up guitar at the age of 12 and ukulele when she was 14. Jonay’s latest single, “I Dream About You,” was released on May 22.

Cumberland Gap

Cumberland Gap, out of Muncie, will perform on June 23. Cumberland has a full slate of summer performances including its gig at the Hancock County 4-H Fair. This five-piece group has also performed at the Indiana State Fair. Cumberland Gap plays a mix of bluegrass and gospel.

Mountain Laurel

Mountain Laurel first played at the Hancock County Fair in 2019. They return in 2021 to perform on June 24. This blue grass band from the Pendleton area is a family-friendly energetic group that plays traditional bluegrass music. Formed 15 years ago, Mountain Laurel has played throughout east central Indiana at festivals, churches and fairs. Their influences include Flatt and Scruggs and the Stanley Brothers. The band features Adam Lambert on mandolin, Jim Miller on fiddle, Derek Carrera on banjo, Michael Slaven on bass, and Eddie Slaven on guitar.

Scott Dickson and Company

As a finale to the 2021 Hancock County Fair, the Hancock County Agricultural Association presents Scott Dickson and Company at 7 p.m. June 25 at the 4-H Bowl. Dickson is pure country, covering the classics from the likes of country gold classics such as Merle Haggard, Waylon Jennings, Hank Williams Jr., John Anderson, David Alan Coe, Johnny Cash as well as the more contemporary sounds of Toby Keith, Eric Church, Jamey Johnson, Chris Stapleton and Gary Allen. Admission is free.
