Man wanted on child molesting charges

GREENFIELD — Police are looking for a man accused of molesting two children in Greenfield on multiple occasions earlier this year.

Kirk Dale Lonas, 56, was charged last week in Hancock County Circuit Court with a Level 1 felony count of child molesting; and two Level 4 counts accusing him of fondling a child younger than 14.

Greenfield Police Chief Jeff Rasche said as of Wednesday afternoon, a warrant for Lonas was still active and he had not yet been taken into custody.

A probable cause affidavit filed in the case by Greenfield Police Lt. Nichole Gilbert states that a report to an Indiana Department of Child Services hotline started the investigation last month.

Two victims said Lonas fondled them over and under their clothing on different occasions this year. One victim said the she had been inappropriately touched on more than a dozen occasions.

The abuse was reported to have occurred in two residences in Greenfield.

Lonas has moved out of his last known residence in Greenfield and did not return a voicemail left by police, according to the affidavit. He owns Avert Security, a security firm in Indianapolis, the affidavit also states.
