The injunction essentially forbids the liquidation or removal of any items from the property during the investigation.

HANCOCK COUNTY — Hancock County Circuit Court judge Scott Sirk has granted the Indiana attorney general’s motion for a preliminary injunction against Greenfield Granite, the monument business it accuses in a civil suit of taking customers’ money without completing work. The ruling by Sirk, handed down Tuesday, Sept. 29, gives the attorney general’s office two weeks to take an inventory of the business, located at 952 W. Main Street, and forbids the removal of anything from the business.

The Greenfield Police Department is conducting a separate criminal investigation into the business after over 70 customers filed reports with the department recounting total losses of over $100,000. The customers say they purchased grave markers or other specialty work for their loved ones, but they never received them. Lt. Nichole Gilbert, who is leading the investigation, said this week the probe is ongoing.
