GREENFIELD — Four people from Vincennes face multiple drug charges stemming from a traffic stop in January during which officers found methamphetamine and almost $17,000 in cash.
The prosecutor’s office didn’t file the charges until earlier this month at the completion of an investigation, Prosecutor Brent Eaton said.
Catherine Lynn Carie, 42; Jessica Leigh Snyder, 42; and Raymond Merle Green Jr., 59, have each been charged with a Level 4 felony count of possession of methamphetamine; a Class B misdemeanor count of possession of marijuana and a Class C misdemeanor count of possession of paraphernalia.
A fourth person, Adam Charles Cronk, 37, is facing the same three drug charges and also a Class A misdemeanor count of driving while suspended.
According to a probable cause affidavit, the four were arrested after a complaint about suspicious people on the porch of a residence in the 1700 block of Grindstone Way.
Officers saw a black van leaving the area and eventually stopped it for several traffic violations.
Police ran checks on the occupants of the van and found they all had previous drug charges, the affidavit said. A K9 officer who was soon brought to the scene detected drugs in the van.
A search found plant material police believed to be marijuana and a crystalline substance believed to be methamphetamine. Police also found drug paraphernalia and a canister with nearly $16,900 in cash.
While all four were taken to the Hancock County Jail at the time, they were released on bond as officials worked on official charges.
Carie and Snyder made their initial appearances Wednesday, June 24, in Hancock County Superior Court 1. Both appeared in person, where a not-guilty plea was entered on their behalf by Judge Marie Castetter. No additional bond was required for either. Carie and Snyder both have pretrial hearings slated for August.
Green and Cronk, who was driving the van when it was stopped, are set to have their initial court appearances Wednesday, July 1 in Superior Court 1.
