To the editor:

What does it take to be an effective representative and a strong leader?

Personally, I am looking for someone that is an advocate for the people, has a history of public service, and understands the meaning of servant leadership. In the contentious world of local politics, I have chosen Theresa Bruno to be my champion.

As a town councilor of Warren Park, Theresa Bruno was quick with action when an interstate accident resulted in 4,000 gallons of jet fuel being spilled on the east side of Indianapolis. Theresa made the voice of her constituents heard by bringing their complaints and concerns to the attention of state officials.

As an educator, Theresa Bruno understands the issues that our school system faces and has hands on experience working with both students and educators in our community.

As a candidate for State Senate in District 28, Theresa Bruno has been relentless in her conversations with residents in effort to open up a direct and honest dialogue about the issues that truly matter to them. As a participant in these conversations, I have seen first hand how Theresa genuinely makes important topics like quality infrastructure, accessible education, and affordable healthcare her top priorities.

Due to unforeseen circumstances, I had to move out of Hancock County. However, this has not stopped me from dedicating my time, effort, and resources to supporting Theresa Bruno in her campaign for State Senate District 28.

I hope that when the Daily Reporter’s readers go to the ballot box (or possibly mail box) in November, they will look beyond the letter next to a candidate’s name and truly consider what they are looking for in an effective representative and a strong leader.
